EXCELLENT Based on 285 reviews Posted on Jessica leungTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Love the atmosphere ! Love the caring detail, they’re severing hot dish with a warm plate . Staff are very nice too! Highly recommended! However I am excited for trying their duck, but it’s out of the menu at the moment! Hopefully I will be able to try it next time!Posted on Cheryl Godwell-PepperTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. La Madonna is a fantastic spot for cocktails and Italian cuisine. We started with the dressed oysters, which had a unique dressing that left us wanting more. The zucchini frittos reminded me of a really good tempura, light and perfectly battered. The kingfish topped with sour apple was a standout. The lamb rigatoni was delicious, with a great balance of lamb and pasta. The black garlic butter served with the porterhouse was stunning,I love a good butter. We wanted to try the dry-aged duck but wasn’t able to since it needs to be pre-ordered — remember to do that if you’re interested! For dessert, we had the table-service tiramisu, which is the new trend in Melbourne. Unfortunately, it looked a bit deflated and soggy, but it still had that classic tiramisu flavour. The deconstructed vanilla slice was visually appealing, but the passionfruit sauce overwhelmed the custard, leaving us with a strong sour taste. Overall, La Madonna is a great place for Italian food and cocktails, though the desserts were a bit hit and miss.Posted on GazielleTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. A really special experience. I've not done fine dining before and this was definitely a great place to start. Everything was so fresh and well cooked. The produce was fresh and there was such attention to detail when it came to the flavour profiles. My highlights was definitely one of the entrees, with a light pastry filled with a cream and some micro herbs and some meat. I also really enjoyed the scampi in a ravioli. That was to die for, amazing sauce and it was incredibly fresh with no fishy flavour in sight. The dessert, although rich was multifaceted and portrayed chocolate in a really unique way.Posted on Anthony StrazzeraTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. In the eclectic jumble that chacterises the current Melbourne dining scene, it is gratifying to find a chef and venue dedicated to maintaining the best of traditional techniques with an innovative personal flair. Sauces reveal Chef Jacopo’s training under Guy Savoy and the master Joel Robuchon - a “mashed potato” ( the stuff of culinary legend) pays homage to the multi Michelin starred chef. There is a depth of flavour, perfectly balanced, without cloying density which plagues less accomplished attempts. In these difficult financial times where restaurant menus often reveal obvious compromise or become boringly repetitious in their offering, La Madonna revels in simple, unpretentious luxury at an exceptionally reasonable price point. The set menu, with its equally impressive wine pairing, offers five balanced and complementary courses for $150. But one can sample the chef’s design for much less. There is even a San Marzano pasta - simple perfection. In all dishes sampled ( the langoustine cappelletti, the St. Jacques, the wagyu beef tongue and the exquisite limone dessert were especially memorable) visual presentation reinforced the care in preparation. Service enhanced the experience with its happy blend of efficient, knowledgeable professionalism ( the Michelin floor rhythm was clearly evident) and friendly enthusiasm. The bar, with its French trained staff and delicious barrel aged cocktails, is a destination in itself. I should also point out that a more bistrot style menu also overseen by Chef Jacopo is available at the excellent Bistrot Bisou in the Hotel Indigo. I thank both managements for supporting and promoting this important contribution to Melbourne (fine) dining.Posted on Hi Lee HighlyTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We dined at La Maddonna last night and wow, what an experience. Friends recommend it as a sneaky find for our anniversary and we weren't disappointed. Definitely not just a hotel restaurant, there's some seriously good food being cooked here. The chef is using some of the best seafood in Melbourne; the line caught carpaccio, tuna tartare and turbot blanc were to die for. We finished with the Vitello Tomato en Pithvier and just wow. If you're after a great food experience, I'd definitely recommend La Madonna.Posted on Addy BlancoTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We went to La Madonna two weeks ago during our vacation in Australia (Mexican & French family) and, we totally loved it, this place is lit. From the reception with the apèro as we call it in France all the way to dessert, everything was on point. Quality of the food was excellent (We live in Paris and have high standards) and we loved the French/Italian concept. We received a surprise plate that was similar to a Mexican dish and I had no other choice but to congratulate the chef (I usually never do this), this dish brought me back to a Sunday brunch at my mom’s house. Congratulations to the chef and staff, we loved the drinks, ambiance, food and attention!Posted on Brenden PhillipsTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google.
